This website is supported by Yayasan Salam Malaysia as a resource for information on volunteerism in Sarawak.
Background
SALAM Malaysia was launched at Putra World Trade Center on 22nd July 1998, by our former deputy Prime Minister, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim. SALAM initiate its community development through Fulltime Volunteers looking for ways to maintain and build on momentum in Sarawak. From 1998 - 2002 , volunteers were monitored by Datuk Rohani Karim, our former trustee member of Yayasan SALAM Malaysia. Since 2002 till 2007, SALAM were fully managed by three part time volunteers namely, Cik Zakiah Haji Ahmat, Encik Hajemi Bojeng and Puan Banun Johari.

WE, VOLUNTEERS OF SALAM, dedicated to achieving the goals of a civil society where every individual will have the opportunity to lead a life of dignity and fulfillment, hereby pledge:
- To uphold and practice the spirit of volunteerism
- To share knowledge and experience with sincerity and humility
- To respect the traditions and cultures of other communities
- To foster friendship and solidarity among all
